Maternity tour 2013

I highly encourage all mothers-to-be to go for a maternity tour at the hospital to decide for delivery which are the best maternity hospitals in Singapore and which one is right. To be equip with information so you know exactly what to do and not panic on the day itself.

I find it is a fun experience to see how each hospital works & to view their room environment. Hope you enjoy the whole process like me & the food after the tour.

1) Maternity Tour - TMC  28Sep13 Sat

First stop at Level 2, she showed us the Delivery Room and Observation Room.

Mothers will be put in the Observation Room after admission while waiting for delivery time.

There will be a nurse at the central  to monitor all the mother fetal movement.

Dad allow to be there to accompany the mum.

There will be a surviving pack for father while accompany the mum at the observation room.

Personally  feel a sense of security if husband is around with me.

Check up will be done here by nurse or gynae.

When labor time is up, they will bring you to Delivery Room. 

Then after everything is done, Mother will be moved to  the room of her choice subject to availability .

Perks in delivery room: 

1)Essential oil like lavender provided

2)CD player

3)Hydrotherapy at additional charges (only 2 room available)

The stay include : 

-Daily Newspaper 

-TMC signature fish & papaya soup,breakfast, lunch, tea & dinner 

Some people will opt for 4bedded room as it is always full & then they will get free upgrade to 2 bedded room.

Conclusion : Have a clear mind of what to expect when I m going for delivery at the hospital.

Lastly Kind of disappointed that there is no food being offered after the tour.

According to the other blogger last year 2012 :

There will be a complimentary Thomson Medical’s Signature Soup for Moms at the end of the tour.

2) Maternity Tour -Mount Elizabeth hospital 12Oct13

Pro : 

1) It was during their lunch time when we were there.The meal seem yummy cos it smell so nice when they were serving the meal to the different ward

2)During delivery there will be always 1 nurse & 1midwife around.

Compare to other hospital , there is no midwife accompany during delivery.

Compare to TMC we were put to observation room , nurse only come in once every 2hr.

Although TMC claim there will be a nurse at the central monitor all the mother fetal movement but personally will feel a sense of security with the midwife presence.

3)There is a garden for relaxation during the stay.

Premium room include:

1)Head & shoulder massage 

2)Personal 24hour butler

con:

1)The hospital is quite big so may be very lost to get the correct place during emergency.

There are some light refreshment at the end of the tour:

1)Turkey sandwiches

2)Soup : Black bean soup & Lotus Peanuts soup

is part of the confinement food that  will serve which comes with the maternity package

3)Orange juice & mineral water

Greeted by a very warm & friendly service coordinator

1) Different from other places,there will be a 15mins head & shoulder massage for all single bed room mummy.

2) Package include : 
     I) vaccination : BCG & Hepatitis B

     ii)Basic baby screen

3)For executive room onward, there will be a celebratory cocktail party&celebratory dinner for 2.

4) For their most expensive suite-Tanglin Suite : additional Limousine service & ala carte menu

Con 

1)Tanglin suite no doubt is very luxury but located @ 10floor which is not near nursery which located @ 5&6 floor

Baby need to take lift from the nursery to reach mummy for breastfeeding etc.

I m quite impressed by their light refreshment at the end of the tour:

Prawn tart, ham & cheese tart, tomato tart & brownie

I taste all except the prawn which I m allergy to it.

All are yummy ...I can still remember the H&C tart until now.

The brownie is the best I have ever had.

Cheese cake & pandan cake:

I am not a cheese cake person but I m quite impressed by this cake as the cheese taste just right not so cheesy compare to those cafe.

 Red date longan tea, ginger tea & apple juice which will be serve during the stay.
I only tried red date longan tea , very nice!!!
